So i think there are a few gaps on the information side First, cil/msil is known as an intermediate language, which means that it's a computer language that is used as an intermediate step between the source code and the final native machine code. 6 both the terms are similar but with following difference Providing the assembly consists of only managed code, it will always be compiled to pure msil, regardless of the compiler setting (anycpu/x86/x64), so even if you compile as x86, you still get msil.
Msil and java bytecode are very similar, in fact there is was a tool called grasshopper which translates msil to java bytecode, i was part of the development team for grasshopper so i can share a bit of my (faded) knowledge. I read the c# program compilation takes two steps First it generates msil and then it produces the machine code So i am curious to see the files generated by first phase of compilation (msil).
